[Lease between George Fermor, Earl of Pomfret and Edward Harvey], 1770 Jun 23.

Manuscript indenture, on parchment, of a lease for and accompanying household inventory of No. 8 Clifford Street in St. James, Westminster. The "household goods" portion of the inventory itemizes furnishings, carpets, kitchen equipment and linens. The larger part of the indenture contains an inventory of the ca. 90 paintings in the house, which were collected by its first owner, Thomas Walker, Surveyor General of Crown Lands and Commissioner of Customs. Walker's collection, consisting mostly of Old Master works with religious or mythological subjects, is described in detail, and attributions are given for many works, Attributed artists include Nicolas and Gaspard Poussin, Anthony Van Dyck, Guido Reni, Carlo Cignani, Jan ("Velvet") Breughel, Francesco Albani, Murillo, Salvator Rosa, Claude Lorrain, Jan Van de Velde, and Watteau. Hanging locations within the various rooms are also noted.
